It has been seven years since the Walker kids (Denise Korposio, Emmanuel Nagbe and Joel Nyamieh) left Africa, so for them, it was a needed trip.

There is so much to share: our pains and pleasures, joys and sorrows. Please give us a call if you need some personal stories and pics: 719-574-0376

In Freetown (June 20-26), the kids were able to see Dee's Dad and Mom along with several aunts, uncle, nieces and nephews. Dr. Conteh of Radio Life Venture, a HCJB partner, provided lodging. Dee held several key meetings with Dr. Conteh and Ransford Wright of Believers' Broadcasting Network (BBN) on issues pertinent to HCJB's initiative in the country.

In Monrovia, Dee and Joseph Kebbie (Training Coordinator of HCJB Global in Sub-Saharan Africa) teamed up to conduct training at Radio ELWA. It was a refreshing time.

The Walkers also took time off to visit Liberia's Vice Presdient, Hon. Joseph Boakai and the second lady, Madam Boakai at their residence.

The Walkers returned to Accra, Ghana on July 7th. Thanks for your prayers.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN!

It seems like just yesterday when we were planning for this consultation in Accra, Ghana. Well, I (Dee) am on the road again. I leave on Saturday for Ghana (arriving on Sunday, Feb. 24th).
Please pray our partners who will be coming from all over Sub-Saharan Africa for this consultation. Click the following link to read about the consultation featured in an interview I had with Mission Network News:
http://www.mnnonline.org/article/10897

I am really grateful to God for our team in Africa. As I transition into the new role, one of my goals is to craft ways that the team will experience my desire to shepherd. So, after the consultation in Ghana and meetings with the team in Ghana, I will be off to Malawi to meet with our medical team. I am really looking forward to this time. Please pray for traveling mercies.

Dee

New Year Greetings!

Wow! I remember back when Lee was heavily recruiting Dee for HCJB Global, and Lee told me that Dee would be the future director in the region one day. The place was Cherry Hills Community Church, Highlands Ranch, CO. The event was the 27th General Assembly of the World Outreach of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC).

I was to do a presentation/workshop on Global Leadership Development. Little did I/we know what God had in store. I met two smiling Greeters (a female and a male) at the door who joyfully directed me to Room 249 where my workshop will be held. I came back to talk with these wonderful Greeters because I needed some logistics taken care of. It was then that the male Greeter asked me about my country of origin. "Liberia," I said. "Where is that?" He asked. The lady Greeter and I almost said in unison, "West Coast of Africa." Impressed, I looked at her and she asked me if knew a Pete Ackley who served with SIM in Liberia. I said, "Yes, I have met him." "He is my uncle," the lady said (she had introduced herself as Myrnan, a very rare name. She took time to explain to me how the name was arrived at. I will not tell that story).

Anyway, I found out that her father was the late Bill Ackley, one of my professors at African Bible College, in Liberia. Both of us could not believe it. I asked about her Mom, and in tears, she pulled out her phone and called Mom Wanda Ackley. "Mom, you would not believe this. I have a surprise for you." "I am standing here with a young man, Dennis Walker. . ." she continued. The other words could not be heard as I heard Wanda at the other end, rejoicing. The phone was handed over to me, and I talked with Wanda Ackley, one that will always be remembered by students at ABC as a bundle of joy with her theme, "Don't Worry, Be Happy!"

This meeting was a providence orchestrated only by God! To Him be ALL the glory and honore and praise.

We are looking forward to a reunion soon, and look forward to that day when we will be with Bill in heaven.

The pic on the right is Myrnan and me (Dee) and the one on the right is Wanda and her grandkids. It was sent to me by Myrnan. Our focus was the Transformational Goal for Sub-Saharan Africa. This presidential mandate sets forth the challenge to focus media, medical and leadership development resources in the Region. By simultaneously (where possible) utilizing our media and healthcare resources to address the situation, we seek to:

See people come to Christ as we demonstrate an incarnational gospel message.

Mobilize Africans to serve others in the love of Christ.

Focus health care resources on providing primary care, to those with demonstrated needs, among the young, those in the rural areas, and those affected by the ravages of war, famine and disease.

Integrate leadership development, media and healthcare initiatives wherever possible.

Today we looked at the progress made in the planning based upon the outcomes of the meetings in Accra, Ghana. I am very pleased to report that our first quarter objectives were met with one or two of the objectives needing further clarifications. We came away from the meeting knowing that we are on the right path as we endeavor to engage, equip and empower our partners in the region to be effective ministers of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Thanks so much for your prayers. We have just begun...the road ahead of us is long, but there is excitement in the air. We are joyful because of the opportunity we have to partner with you in being agents of transformation in a continent faced with multiple challenges (opportunities for us to be faithful hands and voice).

I will be providing you with updates as the plan unfolds.

Dee
